Attack Misconception
Definition
Misunderstanding happens when students construct knowledge in a plausible but unintended way (Wiggins, Wiggins, & McTighe, 2015, p. 51).
Can happen in both constructing knowledge and transferring knowledge.
Misunderstanding ≠ ignorance
Why?
Misconception/misunderstanding can hinder learning.
How to?
Do
- Use open-ended questions to uncover misunderstanding in students' thought process.
- Attack misconceptions in the lecture

- Attacking common misconceptions can be a learning goal.
